Why
a page on Darrel Higham on an Eddie Cochran site? Well ... Darrel
is one of the best - if not the best - rock 'n' roll performer
of today. His guitar playing is widely acclaimed and his voice has a warmth and depth that places him
along side the best. And if that's not enough ... nobody on the
scene today can sing
an Eddie Cochran song like Darrel! Just listen to his two 'Cochran
Connection' CD's and you know what I mean. In all of his shows
Darrel puts in a couple of Eddie Cochran songs and by doing so
helps keeping Eddie's name alive. Besides the music Darrel is also co-author of the
great Eddie Cochran bio 'Don't Forget Me' and wrote the liner
notes
for the superb Eddie Cochran compilation 'Somethin' Else'. In the
first weekend of July 2004 Darrel came to the Netherlands for a short
tour and did two shows in Amsterdam. Of course I had to be there to
meet Darrel and take some pictures. Lately Darrel has been touring
with Stray Cats member Slim Jim Phantom and recorded the CD 'Kat
Men'. Another
project is the studio that Darrel build: Embassy Studio. Furthermore
Darrel founded the Ambassador Records label which is
a partnership between Foot
Tapping Records boss, Clive Duffin and Darrel Higham. The label has
been set up to find and release new talent that are actively
promoting and modernising Rockabilly music. Enough said ... especially for Remember Eddie Cochran
... here's Darrel Higham!!
